At Abbotswood, our Music curriculum has been designed to instil the ‘Power of Music’ set out in The Model Music Curriculum . It states that, ‘Music is creative, collaborative, celebratory and challenging. In our schools, music can bring communities together through the shared endeavour of whole-school singing, ensemble playing, experimenting with the creative process and, through the love of listening to friends and fellow pupils, performing.’

At Abbotswood, our aim is that every child benefits from an outstanding Music education which is fun, creative, inspiring and innovative. Lessons are tailored to each child’s individual needs and musical interests to enable them to achieve their full potential. Through our Music curriculum, children will develop a critical engagement with music, allowing them to develop progressive  performance, composing and listening skills. We are committed to making Music a creative strength and presence throughout the school so that children experience ‘the joy of music making’.
