At Abbotswood, DT is taught through our integrated, topic based curriculum, ensuring it is woven into a rich learning journey that provides a relevant context and ‘end-user’ to make learning purposeful. Our Design and Technology curriculum is crafted to be rigorous, exciting, and relevant, aiming to inspire and equip children with the skills necessary to become innovative problem solvers. Through engaging and challenging projects, we aim to develop children’s ability to think critically by evaluating and understanding the principles of design and the processes involved in creating effective and innovative solutions.   

We aim to cultivate children’s ability to approach problems systematically, think creatively, and develop practical solutions while considering the needs of the intended user. Through collaborative and individual hands-on activities and projects, students will learn to identify problems, generate ideas, prototype, test, and refine their designs.  By providing a comprehensive and inspiring Design and Technology education, we aim to empower our children to become confident, creative, and capable individuals who are ready to tackle the challenges of the future.
