RE

Religious Education contributes to children’s spiritual, moral, social, cultural and intellectual development. At Abbotswood, our RE curriculum follows the Hampshire Agreed RE Syllabus ‘Living Difference IV’ which seeks to introduce children to what a religious way of looking at, and existing in, the world may offer in leading one’s life, individually and collectively. Our core aim is to encourage children to respect the religious commitment of others and embrace that people have the right to hold different religious beliefs, helping them to celebrate and embrace difference through open, fair minded inquiry.

Our RE curriculum is designed to provide a rich and wide range of learning experiences, giving children opportunities to develop concepts and skills that will help them to make sense of their own experiences and beliefs, and to see that there are common values and concerns across all religions and non-religious worldviews, even though the expressions of these may be emphasised in different ways.
