At our school, we use a house system to build community spirit and encourage teamwork across all year groups. The five houses are Pegasus, Andromeda, Orion, Phoenix and Vega. 

When children join Abbotswood, they are assigned to a house and remain a member of that house until they leave. Throughout the year, we organise a variety of events and activities - such as competitions, sports days and Fresh Friday - that take place within these houses, allowing children to work together across different classes. 

As part of our positive relationships and behaviour management system, children earn house points daily for positive actions and achievements; these points go towards their house total. At the end of each week, we announce the winning house in assembly and, at the end of the year, the overall winning house enjoys a special reward. Each house is led by two Year 6 house captains and deputy house captains who act as role models and leaders, supporting and inspiring their peers to do their best and contribute positively to their house community.
