A high-quality language education should foster children’s curiosity and deepen their understanding of the world. At Abbotswood, we follow the Language Angels programme of study to ensure we offer a relevant, broad, vibrant and ambitious French language curriculum that will inspire and excite our pupils. We aim for all children to be able to:

• develop a genuine interest and positive curiosity about foreign languages, finding them enjoyable and stimulating.

• speak with increasing confidence and fluency, finding ways of communicating what they want to say, including through discussion and asking questions, continually improving the accuracy of their pronunciation and intonation.

• begin to write using the variety of grammatical structures that they have learnt.

• feel willing and able to continue studying languages beyond key stage 2, becoming life-long language learners.
